Description

The perfect pairing of OPERA + Italian Sparkling wines from Verona in tribute to love and the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet.

Event Details

Pick your poison, my sweet is a special pre-concert event hosted by OPERA San Antonio perfectly paired with The Capulets and Montagues, a beautiful take on the iconic love story of Romeo and Juliet by the Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini.
Come sip tantalizing Sparkling wines from Verona while learning about this region from a professional onsite sommelier from Fine Wining and enjoy decadent bites in tribute to this timeless romantic tale. Located in the Condos Student Gallery at the University of the Incarnate Word, attendees can stroll and enjoy the art exhibits featuring special works on loan from collections at the McNay. Guests will receive education on the wines, suggested pairings with the provided bites, insider background on the opera, and special reserved seating within the intimate Luella Bennack Music Center Performance Hall at UIW for the concert opera performance.
The performance is lead by Antony Walker, Artistic Director and Conductor of Washington (D.C.) Concert Opera and features a stellar cast including acclaimed soprano Rachele Gilmore as Giulietta and rising star, mezzo-soprano Corrie Stallings in a historic operatic “pants role” as Romeo. Additional cast members include Grammy Award-winning baritone Daniel Belcher, tenor Jonas Hacker and bass Matthew Treviño from Austin, TX. San Antonio-based chamber group Agarita will be the featured accompanying ensemble for this event.
Do something unique for Valentine’s Day this year by sharing this perfect outing with friends and loved ones.
