3 day workshop Ages 11 to 13 9:00am - 12:00pm each day

$105 members/$120 non-members
Discover the fine points of designing comic books. Workshop participants will visit our special exhibition, “Men of Steel, Women of Wonder” and the permanent collection to look for dynamic poses, continuous narratives, and ornate vestments from various cultures. In the studio, workshop participants will explore: character creation, drawing techniques, storyboard design, and plot development. Participants will be able to choose between an accordion style layout and traditional 12 page book formats.
Participants will also be invited to screen print their own “Men of Steel Women of Wonder” tote bag or poster.
Teen workshops are led by professional artist-educators and include a tour in the museum, instruction in a variety of art techniques and media. Fee covers all materials. Caregivers must provide lunch and transportation for students.
Note: The San Antonio Museum of Art is NOT a licensed day-care facility or child-care center.
By enrolling in this workshop, students and their guardians acknowledge and agree that any photos, videos, pictorial images, voice recordings, or quotations taken or created by the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA), including without limitation any taken by any photographer or videographer paid by or volunteering for SAMA, during or relating to the course are the sole property of SAMA and may be used in future publications, web pages, promotions, advertisements, and exhibitions. SAMA or any other person authorized to use such images by SAMA without the need of additional permission from or consideration to the student or guardian.
By enrolling in this workshop, students and their guardians agree to release and waive for the student and anyone claiming through the student, all claims based on the right of privacy, right of publicity, moral rights, or any other intellectual property rights related to the rights granted by the student to the SAMA.
