Event Details
BALLET NEPANTLA is a New York City-based dance company founded by South Texas native ANDREA GUAJARDO. In Ballet, Nepantla’s newest production, Mística, ignites the senses and accentuates the cultural significance of Día de Muertos (Day of the dead) in an innovative and captivating production with extraordinary dance and choreography. Mistica honors our ancestors by celebrating our Indigenous, Afro, and Hispanic roots. It commemorates the traditions of Día de Muertos and transports audiences into the afterlife through Ballet Nepantla’s unique fusion of ballet Folklorico and contemporary dance. Mística tells stories of the ancients through new choreographic renditions of El Venado, Viejitos, and other traditional favorites. New stories also emerge as the dead come back to life in celebratory fashion in Angelitos, Katrina Ball, and Palo Congo. Get ready for a spectacular experience that is purely brilliant and heartfelt. The performance is on Saturday, October 29 at 8 pm at the Jo Long Theater, Carver Community Cultural Center, 226 N. Hackberry, San Antonio, TX. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com, the Alamodome, and the Carver Community Cultural Center Box Office open M-F, 8 am – 4:30 pm. Call 210-207-2234 for more information.
