History Is Alive & Well
300 Years in San Antonio

2018 King William Fair Parade will honor San Antonio’s Tricentennial by creating an experience that is both visually stunning and educational for it’s audience. This moving timeline will display key events, folklore and music that have played an impactful role on San Antonio’s diverse nationality.

The parade will be divided into several time periods. Each period’s instructional stories are based on events that have developed our city. From the early days with Fray Antonio de Olivares’ working with the Payaya Indians to today’s modern times, our parade will do it’s best to enlighten its audience.

We ask applicants to choose a time frame that appeals to them. Not having a solid plan for your parade’s theme is okay, as long as you are inspired by an era of time and you’re not a late entry. If your entry is considered, our Chief Parade Wrangler will contact you to discuss ideas. The main deciding factors for parade submissions are based on the “Wow Factor”. Does your entry provide a quality or feature that is extremely impressive?

Please keep in mind the number of applicants increase each year and our linear space is limited. When you apply for the parade please be specific when describing your “Wow Factor”. Your “Wow” could be a number of things; a car, an animal, a costume or a sound, either way please be specific.

Bottom line, our funky and eclectic parade will share with San Antonio an unforgettable living history lesson. ¡Viva Fiesta!

TIME PERIODS:
You’ll find the past 300 years broken down in chunks of 50 years. This timeline is vague and doesn’t include folklore. This is designed to inspire you, not constrain you!
