It is a day that is good because God was drawing the world to God’s self in Christ. God was, and is, in control. God is working out His’ intention for the world — winning salvation for all people. We call it “good” because we look backward at the crucifixion through the lens of Easter.
“Good Friday” has also been called “Friday of Preparation”. The title finds its roots in the Greek word paraskeue, meaning the “day of preparation”. In the New Testament, paraskeue is used the in the sense of getting ready for Friday, making necessary preparation to celebrate a sabbath or a feast.
