Description
Camp United Nations for Girls is a political leadership program that introduces girls ages 9 to 15 to international politics and the work of the United Nations. The program begins with a lesson on the history of the United Nations and its purpose.
Event Details
The Participants learn about the specific work undertaken in the United Nations’ boards, commissions, committees, councils and panels and working groups. Prior to convening the General Assembly, each participant will be assigned a country, guided through researching her country and solving geopolitical challenges in regional work groups. When the General Assembly convenes delegates will give speeches, negotiate with other delegates, caucus and propose resolutions along with amendments before finally voting. All activities will be guided by a camp counselor in small working groups of delegates. Girl Scouts participating in Camp United Nations for Girls will earn a Girl Scouts Global Action Award.
Camp United Nations for Girls is ideal for girls with an interest in politics. The delegate fee is $160, the Girl Scout delegate fee is $160, the military family delegate fee is $140 and the group delegate fee is $130 per ticket for any purchase of 5 or more tickets. The delegate fee covers all program materials and meals. The delegate fee is non-refundable unless the organizer cancels the program. Is the registration fee refundable?
The registration fee is non-refundable unless the organizer cancels the session. If a participant is unable to attend a session a credit will be placed on file that may be used at any time for a future program. The credit does not expire.
How many tickets must be purchased to qualify for the group rate?
Any purchase of 5 or more tickets qualifies for the group rate.
Is lunch provided?
Lunch is provided as are snacks. Snacks include fresh apples, bananas and granola bars. Water will be served with lunch and available throughout the day. No sodas or juice will be served. Breakfast is not served.
Are accommodations made for allergies or dietary restrictions?
A vegetarian lunch option will be provided, no pork will be served. No nuts are allowed in the meeting room. Participants with other dietary restrictions or allergies should bring lunch and snacks if necessary.
