The 13th Annual OFFICIAL DIGNOWITY HILL PUSHCART DERBY
Sunday, June 16th, 2019 2-6pm
Lockwood Park (corner of N. Hackberry and Hays St.)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!
A team of 3, 2 pushers and a driver, will compete in heats with other teams. There are 2 divisions: adults and kids (13 and under). Each team is responsible for the design, construction, and materials (preferably recycled) of their own carts and at their own expense. Sturdiness, safety, and creativity should all be considered.
You may enter an adult team and a kid's team as one team. This means one cart may be used in a 3-person adult team AND a 3-person kid's team. You only need to register under the Adult racer's ticket.
PUSHCART DERBY PROCEDURES and RULES
To sign up you derby team, read this information and return the next page with registration fee.
PROCEDURES
-All teams and pushcarts must check-in and go through safety inspection by officials between 1-2pm
-Derby track will be open from 12-1:30pm for practice runs
RULES
Pushcart
-Carts must not have any protruding parts (ex: long bolts, large stabbing pieces of wood, knives, etc.)
-All carts need to have steering that is controlled by the driver; not the pushers
-NO: pull carts, rickshaws/rickshas (a pushcart is pushed; not pulled)
-All carts need to have a seatbelt that securely holds the driver in the pushcart
-All carts need to be tagged as “good to go” by official derby officials before competing in races – a well-built cart won’t get you hurt and will allow you to race
Team
-One driver and two pushers for each pushcart team
-Adult teams are 14+; Kids teams are 13 and below (all minors require parent/guardian permission)
-All team members must wear helmets and safety gear
-All team members must wear closed-toed shoes – no sandals
-Driver and pushers must compete throughout all races – no substitutes allowed
Racing
-All races will be overseen by Derby Officials – officials’ decisions are final
-Races will start with front wheels of each pushcart on starting line
-Any early jump starts will result in either a do-over or disqualification – decided by Derby Officials
