Description

The Rollercade dates from the 1950s and was originally called Northporte Rollercade. Its name was shortened in 1984. The iconic sign out front, designed by Lionel Sosa in 1958, sports five huge brightly lit neon circles spelling "SKATEā€, leaving no doubt what activities take place beneath them. The Rollercade has provided generations of families with roller-skating, thumping music, and plenty of bruised knees. San Antonio's premiere roller skating facility seems to be frozen in time in a heavy 70s roller disco theme, complete with neon lights and trippy magic-carpet day-glo swirls. Besides offering public skating, the Rollercade also provides private lessons and parties for young and old alike.
