About Alamo Heights
Alamo Heights is a city rich with history and located just five miles north of the heart of San Antonio, Texas. With San Antonio encompassing the Alamo Heights community it is served by its own Alamo Heights Independent School District as well as it's amenities and the attractions, plus that of San Antonio. Originally settled by George Brackenridge and Charles Anderson in the mid 1800's for the love of it's beautiful tree's and rolling hillside. Alamo Heights beginnings came by the 1890's and it's history was begun. As of 2000 the census was at 7,319 people that enjoy the rich culture they live in. One of Alamo Heights best day time excursions is the Japanese Tea Gardens, where you encounter a lush and vibrant garden with ponds and waterfalls set in limestone carved from the early twentieth century quarry that was excavated. Spending some time in the Central Market is a great place to experience Alamo Heights, where you can take a culinary class in a gourmet grocery, catch a live band, and find the best options of fresh foods in one place.
