Early childhood educators from around Bexar County and Region 20 are invited to take part in this 1/2 day professional development day at the Scobee Education Center as we celebrate Cinco the Mayo and the educators of our fabulous community.
Event Details
Teachers will get a chance to tour the Challenger Learning Center's Micronaut simulator, view a show in the Scobee Planetarium, and take part in various presentations by early childhood professional organizations.
You are invited to bring your own device to dive deeper into technology you can use in your classroom. There will be music, fun, learning, door prizes and piñatas after all its Cinco de Mayo. Teachers, join us for this exciting day to celebrate you and your love of learning.
Registration & refreshments begin at 8:30am. Presentations begin at 9:00. Four hours of CPE's will be given.
About Our Early Childhood Specialist:
Ellen White is the “Micronaut Program Specialist” at the Scobee Education Center located on the campus of San Antonio College. She received her M.Ed. as an “Early Childhood Specialist” from Stephen F. Austin State Univ. In 1993, she was awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in Elementary Science Education. After 30 years as a Pre-K or Kindergarten teacher, she co-authored a book for young children titled BRILLIANT with Jodi Stauffer. Currently, she play’s “Teacher in Space” where she takes Micronauts (children age 4 – 8) on a simulated mission to the International Space Station. She can be contacted at ewhite69@alamo.edu
