Homegrown Chef's most extraordinary burger battle and community fundraiser is back for its 3rd year, featuring top chefs & badass burgers!

Event Details

Homegrown Chef is proud to host the 3rd annual BURGER COMPETITION, BURGER SHOWDOWN 3.0, to help support the San Antonio Food Bank, at Alamo Beer this year. Ten top San Antonio chefs compete and you eat!

Besides 10 gourmet sliders, Homegrown Chef will be making fresh-fried French Fries and Texas Cookie Shop will be providing their scrumptious scratch-made cookies for dessert. This is an outdoor event, so come out and enjoy a one-night-only burger feast with us!

Additionally, Alamo Beer will be hosting Karaoke on this evening, brought to you by Irish Cowboy Productions Karaoke, so join in on the fun!

This is an audience-voted ONLY competition. You get to vote for your favorite burger and the 1st Place Winning Chef will be awarded a cash prize, along with a trophy. Second and Third Place Winners will also receive a trophy.

The Hostage Burger

Yes, we let the dogs out, and now we are taking you hostage with our Chili Cheese Dog Burger! This chilified burger patty, made with our signature five-pepper chili paste, is topped with aged Wisconsin "jeddah," grilled all natural, all beef dog, topped with our grass-fed Pecan Smoked Whiskey Chili, a blend of 5 Mexican cheeses, red onions, fried jalapeños, romaine lettuce and an avocado jalapeno crema on a homemade chili seed bun.

Reggae Burger

Made with seasoned ground beef, topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, pickled cabbage and jerk aioli on a brioche bun.

The Westslider

Chef Louis is bringing a Westside vibe with this beef and chorizo marinated patty, smoked cheddar cheese sauce, sour pickle relish, shredded red and green leaf lettuce and toasted hot Cheetos aioli on a Kaiser bun.

Made with a housemade patty, Spanish chorizo, Chihuahua cheese, crispy onions, shoestring potatoes and chimichurri on a sourdough bun.

A Dean and Peeler smash patty, Oaxaca cheese whiz, street corn relish, chicharrón corn nut crunch and cilantro lime aioli on a potato bun.

Grass-fed ground beef, smoked gouda and chili peppers, layered with their in-house smoked brisket and sausage, topped with onion strings and finished with a house-made BBQ sauce.

The Caribbean

A sweet, spicy and savory asadero topped burger that celebrates the island vibe with layers of fresh and vibrant flavors of tamarind, citrus, Allspice, gold rum, along with pickled green mango, avocado aioli and sweet and Scotch bonnet peppers.

Made with beef, pork belly, avocado, GGG, Sichuan peppercorn oil, tamari and Kewpie mayo on a biscuit.
